With every event of the NBA All-Star break taking place in one day, the week without basketball will be interrupted for your viewing pleasure in a night of competition.

Jones and Gordon needed a dunk-off to decide a winner, Jones prevailing 48-47 in the one that determined who left with the trophy. Miami’s Bam Adebayo won the skills title as well,. The NBA Slam Dunk Contest is the high-flying staple of NBA All-Star Weekend. Saturday night becomes a stage for the best dunkers in the game to showcase their slamming ability with some added panache. Mascots, cars, birthday candles, and Superman impressions — everything is in play. The dunking crown isn't something that's worn lightly. The dunk contest, 3-point shootout, skills challenge and All-Star game will all take place on Sunday, with coverage beginning at 5 p.m. For the first time since the Thunder’s first year in Oklahoma City, there will not be representation from the franchise, but the organization has deep roots in All-Star history and the skill contests. People were fairly upset Saturday night when Derrick Jones Jr. Won the 2020 Slam Dunk Contest over Aaron Gordon, so it reminded us: Remember when John Wall won in 2014 and all the anger surrounding that year's weird format? The NBA has never been afraid to change things around at All-Star weekend, and this was especially true for the 2014 Slam Dunk Contest.

The dunk contest, 3-point shootout, skills challenge and All-Star game will all take place on Sunday, with coverage beginning at 5 p.m. ET on TNT.

For the first time since the Thunder’s first year in Oklahoma City, there will not be representation from the franchise, but the organization has deep roots in All-Star history and the skill contests.

There have been two members of the Thunder or Seattle SuperSonics to win the dunk contest, and there have been 11 years in which a player competed in it. Here’s the history of the Thunder/Sonics franchise in the contest.
